Introduction to Danny Thomas
Danny Thomas, formerly known as Amos Muzyad Yakhoob Kairouz, was born January 6, 1912 in Deerfield Michigan. He was born to his parents Charles Kairouz and Margaret Taouk, both of whom were immigrants of Lebanon. Danny was one of ten children where he and his siblings were raised in Toledo, Ohio. He attended the University of Toledo. His career kicked off in 1932 when he performed on The Happy Hour Club, through a radio station in Detroit, Michigan. Danny then relocated to Chicago where he changed his name to Danny Thomas. Shortly after his twenty forth birthday, he married his wife Rose Marie Cassanit. Danny Thomas made his appearance in a successful television career, Make Room For Daddy, later known as The Danny Thomas Show. Thomas lead a major role in The Jazz Singer in 1952. Not only was Danny Thomas in front of the camera, but he was also very prosperous behind the scenes. He was very successful in producing The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Mod Squad, and The Andy Griffith Show. Danny made himself a promise that if he were to become successful, he would have a dedication to Saint Jude of Thaddeus, whom is the patron of helpless causes. This is where the beginning of St. Jude Children Research Hospital was founded from.
